Cards at Frank

In their own words: "Frank is a place to find the best of British graphic arts, design and craft. Frank is a place for prints and for fabrics, for books or badges. For the collectible and the ephemeral, for things to see and for objects to own."

Frank in Whitstable had been on my radar as the perfect stockist for my cards for a while before I printed my first cards and got in touch. I'm grateful for their continued support over the years.

The top three images (courtesy of the Frank website) give you an idea of the beautiful shop front, our shared love of stripy bags and their varied products.
The final image captures the paraphernalia involved with sending off my card orders. The recent package to Frank included some new Valentine's cards.

The Snowman And The Snowdog

Time to explain my lack of blogging over the last 9 months. I've had the pleasure of working on 'The Snowman and The Snowdog'. The fully hand drawn sequal to Raymond Briggs' The Snowman. The TV premiere of the film is on Christmas Eve,  Channel 4  at 8PM.

Merry Christmas!

It's always great to see my cards go to a good home.
Thank you to Alice at Coco May Creative for putting this photo up on her blog.

Featured is my green 'Make a wish' card and also the little yellow 'thank you' tag that I send out with postal orders.

instamatic pictures

Following on from my last blog about my Grandpa's instamatic Kodak camera on things&people, here's a few of the random pictures I took with the camera. This was at a time when it was still easy to buy the film and get it developed.

The Snow Child

These illustrations formed the basis for an online trailer for Eowyn Ivey's debut novel The Snow Child. The book is set 'at the world's edge' in the raw Alaskan wilderness, which proved to be an evocative and chilling subject matter for my ink drawings and mono prints. The illustrations were animated by Verdant Films to create the final trailer that can be viewed here.
An early book review captured the essence of what I set out to convey in the snowy images:
"This book is real magic, shot through from cover to cover with the cold, wild beauty of the Alaskan frontier. Eowyn Ivey writes with all the captivating delicacy of the snowfalls she so beautifully describes." - Ali Shaw Author of Girl with Glass Feet.

The Snow Child has made it onto Waterstone's 11, a selection of the best debut novels of 2012.
The book is out Today - 1st February 2012.
Published in the UK by Headline Review and Little, Brown & Co. in the US.
